SINGLE WOMAN

I hated him leaving, didn’t know how

to be alone in the bedroom, in the kitchen,

but the tool shed was the worst.

His pliers, how he opened things, the drill,

and now it’s all gone – empty.

I’m left to wander the street, into a bar

with neon signs luring me –

OPEN-OPEN-OPEN

only this time

very slowly.
