On Coming Home From The Clearing in Ellison Bay the Day Before Father’s Day

What waits: strawberries thick in the garden,

the bee still buzzes outside my bedroom window,

a Father’s Day balloon half-filled with helium

stuck in the weeds in the roadside ditch,

from someone

(I don’t know who)

to their father somewhere.

I wonder if the message got through.
